The Creepfest has taken over! Not even those quaint Christmas villages are safe from the devious minds of your favorite horror, dark and speculative fiction authors.
Bloody Bookish asked author Patti Larsen how she would create the ultimate Creepfest-inspired Christmas village.
Here is her gory take on this holiday tradition.
Ah… the Creepfest Christmas Village. Just look at it, would you? Bask in the terrorizing glow from the red-bulbed streetlights, flooding the snow with gore and glitz. Oh wait, that’s actual blood. My mistake.
And over there! The general store is decorated for the season, fake flames erupting from the roof, the front windows smashed in lovely patterns as the local townsfolk rush out with all their holiday shopping. Oh dear. I guess those flames were real. And the packages clutched in every hand appear to be oozing crimson. My mistake. Just the zombie apocalypse breaking up another fine holiday.
Shall we move along?
Let’s peek into some homes and see what delights the red suited Santa has left for the kiddies. Alice’s stocking is literally over flowing onto the carpet as the carefully wrapped box erupts into a flood of starving spiders. Hmm… well, at least someone (or thing!) is going to have a very Merry!
Oh my goodness! Is that…? Yes, I believe so! The jolly elf himself, flying off in his sleigh, his eight tiny beasties pulling him up and over the rooftops… I do believe they are turning back! Perhaps you’d like to stop waving. Some shelter might be in order? I’ve never seen reindeer with fangs before…
